ArtZone Gate

The gate is a harmonious installation balanced by the colored squares and the vertical-horizontal lines using the three primary colors.
It works as a sunshade during the day, the light-shadow game guides the people who’d like to enter the ArtZone. At night it works with its own light, so no matter whether it’s daytime or nighttime, it’s an excellent selfie spot!

Enter for a rest and slow down, calm down like a whale in the sea. Change your thoughts with other Szitizens, get to know other Civil Island visitors, make friendships, listen to the sound of your sou. Experiance how could be the world where people build by sustainable and renewable tools, where simplicity is combined with creativity, where you can create community helping each other. When you are refreshed, swim towards to the festival ocean wisely and peacefully as the whale.

FESTIVAL PATCHES

Due to the development of digital technology, CDs are being used less and less, but their recycling is unsolved because of the special aluminum layer on them, as they cannot be thrown out as selective waste. As a result, I collected 1500 pieces of CDs from many households and offices that I used to create the patterns with. As a textile designer, I associated the look of the CD to a 25 times magnified sequin. The sequin patch is a popular decoration on clothes, often used as a self expression tool. My idea was to create the Sziget Festival’s own patches, using the keywords: Power of diversity, Love revolution, Love, and the related figures (heart, peace sign, diamond, four-leaf clover, etc.). The shining patterns are visual elements of the festival.

Guardians of Freedom

My installation reshaped our capital city's coat of arms. I designed the two animal to a modern polygonal shape, and replaced the crest to the logo of the festival. It symbolises the inseparable connection between Sziget and the capital city. The statues' colors reflect to the festival colorful mood, the diversity of the community, music and cultural appearance.

Light Bike

Energy is the future.
We are using more and more power and we are less and less aware of where our energy comes from and how much energy we use in our everyday lives. However, not only do our electrical articles need energy. In order to establish and maintain a quality relationship with our fellow human beings in order to achieve our stated goals, we also need energy investment to help others. These two types of energy investment form the Light Bike installation.
The essence of the installation is that the LOVE inscription drawn from the ledge can be illuminated by bicycle.

Love Box.

Modul social object. The hearth shape was chosen as a symbol of love, a classic symbol with today’s contours. Could be used as meeting a point or resting place; also protetcts against the weather. It’s surface is suitable for graphic designs made by the inhabitants of Sziget, also the material is recylable in 95% so it’s environment friendly.

Shadow of Diversity

We created a space which provides shadow, is an attractive design object and an interactive installation at the same time. Lie down under it and see how the wooden clips make constantly changing geometric patterns as the wind blows, and how the coloured units make up a complex system. Take a rest in the shade and watch light filter through the gaps. The small identical parts make up a colourful crowd, same as the Island of Freedom is brought to life by its Szitizens. Leave a message using the clips to increase our Shadow of Diversity.

Speace

Speace, is an installation, which is also meant to be, a so-called sacred area or Speace. People can escape from the festival craziness here to a calm and stress-free world. The shifted-gate system makes entry a bit more difficult, while helping to tear away step-by-step the impulses of the external environment. Through the gates, a ray of light guides visitors' eyes from the entrance, across the center tower, up to the sky. Visitors can experience the real sacredness of the Speace in the central area, no matter what religion they practice.
In the wake of World War II, Hungary, along with most Eastern European countries, found themselves under Soviet occupation. The dictatorship's occupying forces persecuted Christian churches and restricted the exercise of religion for almost half a century. As of 1990, people are once again free to worship whatever religion they wish. Praise be to God!

Spirit of Freedom

With its main function being an orientation point to the Szitizens, Spirit of Freedom rises high above the colorful chaos of the festival.

UP

Up is a therapeutic experience which is built with a concept of an inflatable castle. We can get rid from all the stress and pressure with the help of the music and the tension of lights while simply jumping and enjoying ourselves. As the stress is our biggest problem in this fast and modern world, this year on the Art of Freedom competition we wanted to find a solution with the help of a psychologist to get to the flow-state/condition through the shortest period of time with the help of collecting all the action-mechanisms through our senses. The inspiration of this concept was to re-experience our childhood’s secret “jumpingonthebed” playings where our loyal companions were our fluffy stuffed animals.
At same time 6-8 people can party and play with 14 dummies on-site the Up.

Wall Street

The Vajda High Creative Group has always been very keen on the main social message of the Sziget Festival, which aims to draw the attention on saving and preserving our livable Planet. The installation called Wall Street is built from disposable bottles which will degrade in about a thousand years, and from forever unusable video and audio CDs. They all want to convey this message to the next generations: "Your present is our future and we should already have cherished is yesterday because tomorrow might be too late!"

MESHUP

Alone or in company, whether it's day or night, MESHUP is the perfect spot for relaxing & recharging. This installation is a combination of static and organic elements. The four different units are attached with a net, therefore suitable to host bigger crowds at once. MESHUP's lights create a cozy atmosphere even at night. The space and lighting arrengements make MESHUP not only a great place to chill, you can use it as a meeting point as well!

Time collapse

No one can master the time. This giant hourglass is made of nearly 200 meters of steel plate, symbolizing the finitenesse and endlessness of time. 'Led-sand' flows inside the sculpture, as if time would go away like the shining sand, while, at the end, the whole structure is flooded with white light and time restarts - who knows how long.

Chilout Zone

The Star-faced shepherd

The basis of our idea was to make such a point on the Sziget festivel, where the szitizen can chill at any given time of the day. The tone of the building comes from hungarian folklore, wich we tried to put into an up-to-date form. The concept is based on a stilized skull, of wich's mood is broken by the colourful graphics.

Scout Castle

This Scout Castle is meant to give insight into the world of scouting. This sculpture is made out of natural materials and consists of a community space, demonstrating over a 100 year old construction techniques related programs that come from community experiences.

Elektropus

This installation aims to raise attention to the backsides of the too quick progress in technology. The insane manufacturing of electronical gadgets and the pollutant effects of consumer society are getting much and much disturbing. Electronical waste grows three times faster than any other kind of waste. Built from electronical waste and living off a tree, Elektropus symbolizes the destructive technological progress that devours our natural environment. Don’t let the beast of modern technology to suffocate you as well!

Flowerbed

The FlowerBed is an architectural object, which is both a meeting place and a spot to rest. The floral form alludes to infinity and inclusiveness, everybody and anybody can find peace on the petals. Furthermore, the flower is the symbol of our colourful world: we are as diverse as the flowers, unique and one of a kind.

Galilei

Wire’s new project called „Galilei” represents human activity and its result while the previous installation „4 Square Round Forest” was inspired by the tension between natural and industrial world. The material and the form recalls the team’s original style while they aim at creating something new in Galilei. The cube outside is made out of wood while the globe inside is made out of metal. 4-5 people may be seated inside the globe who set the installation turning around by using their own manual power. This aspect symbolizes the importance of human power and knowledge: it may be the fuel of the modern world as long as it harmonizes with nature. The importance of equality in this situation can’t be underestimated – this is why the speed of globe is limited.

Locomotive

Our team’s main profile is the utilization of possibilities in recycled materials. The base of the locomotive is an empty and useless tank, which can be a spectacular spot of the festival thanks to its size and material. Szitizens can also climb up to the engineer’s cabin to shoot some pictures.

Hugwall

There’s plenty of bad things in this world. We’re more likely to see that if we spill our coffee, find a hole in our sock, are running late and leaving our umbrella at home on a rainy day. There were and there will be a bunch of bad days like this throughout our life but with a bit of love we can turn the negative feelings around. Hug Wall tells a little story about how we can transform a rather terrible day with a hug. Walking from the left side to the right the picture changes, making the installation dynamic. Our piece with its strong, expressive colours and lovely style inspired by the love revolution and the fact that we must act to change the world around us.

LoveHands

This sculpture is desgined from two hands that form a heart, representing love through symbols without having to use words. It’s meant to tie people together, no matter what language one may speak. It is the 21 century’s dove of peace.

Oazis

The idea of our installation ‘Oasis’ was given by green springs which often appear like a mirage in deserts and the so called ‘one tree islands’ emerging from a river. They stand out from their surroundings, attract the eyes, and give a resting place for the tired traveller: they please functional and aesthetic needs. These buzzwords lead us to create the Oasis of Sziget. Oasis, because traversing ‘caravans’ can camp here; in the spirituality of the Island of freedom: It’s the meeting point of people arriving from around the world, it is an island in Sziget.

Piece of Peace

Our aim was to provide a calm space for the szitizens where they can pull out of Sziget’s drift. The installation’s peaceful, surrounding interior space gives a chance to relax. The sitting area can take in a group of 6-8 people. The net fabric follows the shape of the body and filters the stimuli of the outside world.

The sculpture of humanoid robot sculptures and details of their body parts are not accidental.
its nature is decisive. At the time of preparation, I used 100% waste material, and it is typically cultic
originated and legendary fossil fuels, thus incorporating them into a set of sculptures that will further "enliven", and translate them into important objects that still remain waste.
The main material illuminated the palace of the Arts in a colorful glow for 11 years. Nowadays, the late high-end softballs have been transformed and have a new role in both their function and accessibility. Anno was mounted high and nobody was interested in their shape, their appearance, they are now on a human scale.

Rain Grove

Monumental set up, the meeting of human being and the environment as the symbol of the sustainable future. The set consists of 2 interconnected trees, natural wood, live plants and recycled materials. The white led decor and moving robot lights bring the installation alive, creating an exciting and brilliant atmosphere. We incorporated a steam gate in the structure, providing relief on a hot day.

Rythem Box

The Rythem Box is an interactive installation that users can find in a shaded area, and can play music that helps release the body and soul. There are four different types of percussion intruments and each side of the Rythem Box, where festival-goers can improvise jams and participate in music therapy.

Treeland

TreeLand is an interactive installation that is in perfect harmony with its natural surroundings. Our goal was to come up with an installation that can be set up year after year and can always be expanded, adapted as its surroundings and functions change. We wanted to build something that people can enjoy and experience - no matter if they actually use it or just observe.
The set-up of the installation is two-fold: the sitting area is located around the trunk of a tree and serves as a comfortable spot in the shade. To complete the experience, the tree itself will be involved, as well; the trunk is covered with colourful textiles while LED-lights, bulbs and other lanterns are hung from the branches.

String Theory

An all day all night useful, spectacular communal furniture set. Throughout the day it provides a calm, near-natural and comfortable resting place for the tired Szitizens with all the different colors of the rainbow, by night it transforms itself together with the people of the festival. The colorful alternating LED lights are eye-catching and interesting which provide the perfect atmosphere for the festival and uncover the threads' mysterious patterns.

Island of the earthly delights

The installation based on the famous work ”Garden of the earthly delights” of Bosch Hieronymus. It shows the well of life in the garden of eden. That fantastic construction are scary and seductive in the same way. In our small 3D world it can appear in low poly resolution. Thats the way what our mind can accept. We can approach the object, thereby we can approach our supernatural home.

Tree of Love

Where? Here. #treeoflove is a meeting point, a co-operative light installation - you can light up the whole tree - emitting light signals to someone who is looking for you, or just because of the colors.

Turntable of chill

We are a young industrial designer dou, who are constantly looking for new challanges, and this is how come in contact with SZIGET again. The base of our piece is a retro vinyl player, that was inspired by our love of music and the countless emotions it communicates. We wanted to display this in a form, that lets the festivalgoers chill out for a bit in any part of the day. Aside from a confortable place for those who are tired, it is a colorful and interactive place inside the festival. The player has a few interactive buttons, and the vinyl itself can go round-and-round even with Szitizens sitting on it. On the back side of the vinyl cover, that is behind the player, there is a board where the visitors can write (with chalk on painted score) their feelings regarding music and love. The base materials of the installation are wood and steel, the accessories are made of enviromentally friendly plastics. The piece also has moodlighting, so it is a spectecular part of festival even at night.

Wishing tree

Relax there where the present and the past meet each other. The goal of the Mushrooms project is to break our traditions out of their normal place and put them to a multicultural and modern festival. We used a hungarian folk technique to make this installation with using natural materials. Enjoy that cozy environment that we made for you!

A fairy town

FAIRY TOWN is a village of tiny wooden houses, where rooftops serve as seats for Szitizens. This group of 5 to 6 pieces of houses encircle a tree, which is also decorated with a string of wood and line. Thanks to the fluorescent painting the glittering village gives a magical view to the by-passers.

Flower park

For festival goers relaxing and regaining energy are just as important as partying through a gargantuan amount of concerts. Before or after the shows alone or in couples being exhausted or nimble, everyone prefers to rest themselves for a while. Flower Park expresses the festival's main message with its own simplicity, and the LOVE slogan makes a possible meeting-point for 'szitizens'. To create an epigraph, we would like to use the flowers of last year's application 10K FLOWER, which by the way is very lovely for us. The patterns would also appear on the footings of the flower chairs.
